8. Wolfenstein 3D’s Nazi Content
In 1992, you were able to play Wolfenstein 3D, a game in which you would get the chance to kill Hitler. This game tells a story about a good guy American who fights the Nazis. Quite educational, right? Apparently not, because the Nazi symbolism, although portrayed as evil, was too controversial for some.
7. Mortal Kombat’s Gore and Violence
Perhaps it is easier to understand why the next game on the list was critiqued. Mortal Combat is still one of the most popular fighting games, but its rise caused the creation of an organization aimed at content rating video games. No wonder, since this game contains very graphic presentation of violence.
