10. Multi-colored Snow
Imagine you wake up one day and see your back yard covered in snow. Purple snow. And brown snow. This is exactly what happened to the citizens of Stavropol, Russia in 2010. Apparently, the colour of the snow was a consequence of dust from Africa, and was not dangerous, although eating this snow was not recommended. Similar, but a bit scarier event happened in 1912, when black snow fell over Alaska and Canada. The cause were volcanic ash and rocks.
Imagine the worst storm you have ever seen. Now imagine something way worse. Now, try to imagine a super-storm. Derecho is a storm system that causes massive destruction. In 2012, a super derecho (a super-super-storm) affected Midwest and mid-Atlantic. It was made up of several thunderstorms and strong winds. In 2009, another Derecho hit the US, travelled 1000 miles in one day and brought incredible 45 tornadoes.
